GnuTLS is a secure communications library implementing the SSL and TLS protocols and technologies around them. It provides a simple C language application programming interface (API) to access the secure communications protocols, as well as APIs to parse and write X.509, PKCS #12, OpenPGP, and other required structures. This update provides the corresponding updates for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. It was discovered that GnuTLS had a timing side-channel when performing certain ECDSA operations. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to recover sensitive information. It was discovered that GnuTLS incorrectly handled verifying certain PEM bundles. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause GnuTLS to crash, resulting in a denial of service. This issue only affected Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and Ubuntu 23.10.
