The security issue is caused due to the "ipsec4_get_ulp()" function assuming that the "ip_off" field of an IPSec packet is in host endian form. This can be exploited to bypass IPsec policies if at least one of two IPsec connected systems with different byte orders is running a NetBSD operating system. Successful exploitation requires that the kernel is compiled with the "FAST_IPSEC" option. SOLUTION: Patches have been committed to CVS for the affected NetBSD branches (see vendor advisory for further details). PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY: The vendor credits Karl Knutsson.
