DESCRIPTION:
Henry Hoggard has discovered a vulnerability in Vanilla Forums, which
can be exploited by malicious users to conduct script insertion
attacks.
Input passed via the "Discussion/Tags" parameter when creating or
editing discussions is not properly sanitised before being used. This
can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML and script code, which will
be executed in a user's browser session in context of an affected
site if malicious data is viewed.
Successful exploitation requires the Tagging plugin to be enabled.
The vulnerability is confirmed in version 2.0.18.4 running with
Tagging plugin version 1.1p1.
SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
