VULNERABILITY SUMMARY
A potential security vulnerability has been identified with HP ProtectTools
Enterprise Device Access Manager (EDAM) running on Windows. The vulnerability
can be remotely exploited to cause execution of arbitrary code or Denial of
Service (DoS).

HP ProtectTools Device Access Manager (EDAM) running on Windows. EDAM
versions v1, v3, and v5 are impacted.

RESOLUTION

HP has updated HP ProtectTools Enterprise Device Access Manager (EDAM)
running on Windows to resolve the vulnerability for customers running EDAM
versions v1, v3, and v5.

Note:
HP ProtectTools Enterprise Device Access Manager software was provided only
to end users in certain UK businesses. Customers running HP ProtectTools
Enterprise Device Access Manager should contact their normal support channel
to obtain this update.

How to determine if HP ProtectTools Enterprise Device Access Manager (EDAM)
is installed:

Check for the existence of PTDMInformationStore.dll.
Open the properties on PTDMInformationStore.dll and check the File Version.
If the first digit of the File Version is not 1, 3 or 5, no further action is
needed.
If the first digit of the File Version is 1, 3 or 5, EDAM may be installed.
The registry must be checked to confirm whether EDAM is installed.
Open the registry and navigate to the following Key:
HKLM\System\CurentControlSet\Services\flcdlock\devices\cache .
If the cache key exists and has a name-value pair with the name
{62FB6894-268E-48E4-B50E-8519D5E68017} , no further action is required.
If the cache key exists and does not have a name-value pair with the name
{62FB6894-268E-48E4-B50E-8519D5E68017} , EDAM is installed. HP support should
be contacted to obtain the update.
