DESCRIPTION:
Luigi Auriemma has reported some vulnerabilities in Yager, which can
be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service)
and compromise a vulnerable system.
1) A boundary error in the handling of the nickname field can be
exploited to cause a buffer overflow by sending some specially
crafted data to a vulnerable server.
Successful exploitation can lead to execution of arbitrary code.
2) A boundary error in the communication handling can be exploited to
cause a buffer overflow by sending an overly long data block to a
vulnerable server (more than 256 bytes).
3) An error in the communication handling can be exploited to freeze
a vulnerable server by sending an incomplete data block.
4) An error in the communication handling can be exploited to crash a
vulnerable server via some malformed data.
The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 5.24 and prior.
Other versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Host games on a trusted network only.
