TITLE:
TIBCO Rendezvous Multiple Denial of Service Vulnerabilities

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA26337

VERIFY ADVISORY:
https://secunia.com/advisories/26337/

CRITICAL:
Less critical

IMPACT:
DoS

WHERE:
>From local network

SOFTWARE:
TIBCO Rendezvous 7.x
https://secunia.com/product/10338/

DESCRIPTION:
Some vulnerabilities have been reported in TIBCO Rendezvous, which
can be exploited by malicious people to conduct DoS (Denial of
Service) attacks.

1) An unspecified error in the TIBCO Rendezvous daemon can be
exploited to exhaust system memory. No further information is
available.

2) An error exists in the processing of messages by the TIBCO
Rendezvous daemon. This can be exploited to cause network instability
by sending messages to subjects containing lead wildcards (e.g. '>' or
'*').

Successful exploitation results in a DoS, but requires that the TIBCO
Rendezvous daemon is started without the "-no-lead-wc" option.

The vulnerabilities are reported in version 7.5.2. Other versions may
also be affected.

SOLUTION:
1) Restrict access to the TIBCO Rendezvous daemon.
2) Start rvd with "-no-lead-wc".
