DESCRIPTION:
A vulnerability has been reported in Cisco Intrusion Prevention
System, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS
(Denial of Service) or bypass certain security restrictions.

The vulnerability is caused due to an unspecified error in the
processing of Jumbo Ethernet frames received on a Gigabit network
interface and can be exploited to trigger a kernel panic.

Successful exploitation requires that the Gigabit network interface
is configured for inline mode.

NOTE: On platforms that continue to forward network traffic after a
kernel panic takes place, the vulnerability will result in the
bypassing of configured access controls and detection rules.

The vulnerability is reported in versions prior to 5.1(8)E2 and
6.0(5)E2.

SOLUTION:
Reportedly, fixed versions 5.1(8)E2 and 6.0(5)E2 will be available
soon.

The vendor recommends disabling Jumbo Ethernet support. Please see
