DESCRIPTION:
Leonard of Quirm has discovered multiple vulnerabilities in GetSimple
CMS, which can be exploited by malicious people to disclose sensitive
information or conduct cross-site scripting and script insertion
attacks.

1) Input passed to the "i" parameter in admin/image.php, the "log"
parameter in admin/log.php, the "t" and "f" parameter in
admin/theme-edit.php, the "id" parameter in admin/backup-edit.php
(when "p" is set), and the "err" parameter in
admin/template/error_checking.php is not properly sanitised before
being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute
arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context
of an affected site.

2) Input passed to the "title" parameter in admin/template/header.php
is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user. This can
be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's
browser session in context of an affected site.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that
"register_globals" is enabled.

3) Input passed to various parameters in
admin/template/error_checking.php is not properly sanitised before
being returned to the user. This can be exploited to execute
arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context
of an affected site.

Examples:
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=bak-success&i18n[ER_BAKUP_DELETED]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=bak-err&i18n[ER_REQ_PROC_FAIL]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=bak-err&i18n[ERROR]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=edit-success&ptype=edit&i18n[ER_YOUR_CHANGES]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=edit-success&ptype=restore&i18n[ER_HASBEEN_REST]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=edit-success&ptype=delete&i18n[ER_HASBEEN_DEL]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=edit-success&ptype=delete&i18n[UNDO]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=edit-index&i18n[ER_CANNOT_INDEX]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?restored=true&i18n[ER_OLD_RESTORED]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=pwd-success&i18n[ER_NEW_PWD_SENT]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=pwd-error&i18n[ER_SENDMAIL_ERR]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=del-success&i18n[ER_FILE_DEL_SUC]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=del-error&i18n[ER_PROBLEM_DEL]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=comp-success&i18n[ER_COMPONENT_SAVE]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?upd=comp-restored&i18n[ER_COMPONENT_REST]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?cancel=test&i18n[ER_CANCELLED_FAIL]=[code]
https://[host]/admin/template/error_checking.php?err=true&msg=[code]

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that
"register_globals" is enabled.

4) Input passed via the "userid" parameter to admin/index.php is not
properly sanitised before being displayed to the user while viewing
failed login attempts. This can be exploited to insert arbitrary HTML
and script code, which will be executed in the administrative user's
browser session in context of an affected site when the failed login
attempts are being viewed."

5) Input passed to the "LANG" parameter in admin/inc/404-mailer.php
and admin/inc/contactform.php is not properly verified before being
used to include files. This can be exploited to include arbitrary
files from local resources via directory traversal sequences and
URL-encoded NULL bytes.

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability requires that
"register_globals" is enabled and "magic_quotes_gpc" is disabled.

6) Input passed to the "dir" parameter in admin/inc/ajax.php is not
properly verified before being used to read directory contents. This
can be exploited to list files in arbitrary directories on the local
system via directory traversal sequences.

The vulnerabilities are confirmed in version 2.01. Other versions may
also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised and
verified.
