DESCRIPTION:
A security issue has been discovered in GNU Gnash, which can be
exploited by malicious, local users to perform certain actions with
escalated privileges.
The security issue is caused due to the configure script using
temporary files in an insecure manner. This can be exploited via
symlink attacks to e.g. overwrite arbitrary files with the privileges
of the user running the script.
The security issue is confirmed in version 0.8.8. Other versions may
also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Restrict access to trusted users.
